UK Catholic Wedding Photographer
The Mass. The vows. The exchange of rings. The moment the doors open and your life changes.
These are the photographs that matter most and the ones I'm built to capture.
Hey! It’s Joachim
I’m a Catholic wedding photographer based in London, shooting weddings all across the UK
I photograph Catholic weddings. It's where I feel most at home. In the low light within the church, documenting two people start a new life together in marriage. I love the rhythm of the Nuptial Mass…Knowing when to move and when to be completely still. And of course, knowing how to make the most of the light that comes through stained glass at midday.
I developed a creative, documentary approach from my early days as a photographer and I work in the background in such a way that you might forget that I'm even there capturing your memories.
I make two exceptions … the lovely, yet chaotic, crowd control of family photos and the calm stillness of couples’ portraits. Apart from that, you’ll find me in the background capturing the day as it unfolds.
Get in touch with me today to discuss how I can tell your story through photography.
“Joachim took the most wonderful and beautiful pictures of my wedding. I’m delighted we chose him for our wedding photographer, we could not have imagined better pictures. His work on the church among the lights and the smoke was truly remarkable. The pictures were full of colour, light and warmth. He captured all the perfect moments. I’ll always be grateful for how beautifully his work was on capturing our special day…”

Why Hire a Catholic Photographer, anyway…?
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with how many photographers there are out there. However, hiring a Catholic photographer is likely only one of many factors to consider in this process. You're probably thinking “what’s the difference between a secular and a Catholic wedding photographer?” Spoiler: a lot…
Your wedding day is a celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony, and it deserves a photographer who understands that.
So if you’re looking for photos that revere the sacrament you’re entering while still capturing your story, then you’ve come to the right place.
God is the best story teller, my job is just documenting it for you…
As a Catholic Wedding Photographer, I understand all the important moments of the Wedding Ceremony or Nuptial Mass.
Having a deep understanding of the Mass allows me to capture all the moments, discreetly and reverently. The consecration, the exchange of rings and receiving the Eucharist for the first time as husband and wife - and all the little details alongside.
Capturing all these moments is almost second nature, which ensures I’m always in the right place at the right time.
“We booked Joachim's photography services for our wedding this April on a recommendation from friends who had got married before us. Joachim was very friendly and professional throughout the preparation process and during the wedding day itself, a joy to work with, and we got all the amazing pictures we requested, even when the day got a little hectic. The results - absolutely stunning photos! It feels like we can relive the entire day all over again and brings tears to our eyes every time we look through the gallery. Family and friends all love them too.
Thank you, Joachim, for capturing our special day so wonderfully!”

I’ve enquired…what’s next?
-
As soon as I get the form, I will confirm my availability, and send you an email back with lots more information, and all the packages and options for your wedding day!
I will also ask when would be good for step two, which is a brief call to talk it all through!
-
We jump on a call and chat through your day, what you’re planning and what’s important to you.
This way we can see whether I’m a good fit, and if not I will point you in the right direction!

Once we’ve had a chat and you’re happy to go ahead, it’s just a case of locking in the date, and drawing up a simple agreement to ensure all the basics are covered. Like triple confirming dates, and locations!

The next step is to schedule a planning call!
This will typically be around 3-6months out from the wedding, and in it we will go through the timeline, and all the details of the day.

Not at all, and honestly, flash rarely suits a church anyway. I shoot on a mirrorless camera with lenses built for low light, so I don't rely on flash. The available light inside a church. All the candles, stained glass, the light falling through the nave is some of the most beautiful light you'll ever photograph in.

Being able to document the beautiful sacrament that is holy matrimony has always been something I feel privileged to carry out. I also love capturing genuine moments between people, and creating photographs that people will hang on their walls and show to their grandchildren with pride.
